Adult & Teen Education Classes!

Bike Durham empowers all people to bike more often - we are excited to be offering a series of bicycle educational classes for adults and teens.

 

Level 0

Learn to ride! Balance basics and practice

This class will be focused on the basics of biking: Instructors will teach you the basics of balancing, starting, stopping and steering a bicycle.

Next events: May 19th (2-5 pm); June 1st (9 am-12pm); July 13th (9 am-12pm); August 10th (9 am- 12pm).

 

Level 1

Get ready to ride! Bicycling 101

In this class we will cover the basics of biking such as fitting helmets, choosing the proper bike for your needs, how to use the existing biking infrastructures, the basics of balancing, start & stop, power pedal.

Level 2

Ready to ride! Bicycle skills and confidence building

In this class we will spend the whole time riding our bike in a safe, protected, and traffic-free environment. We will practice balance and advanced skills drills, such as steering, avoiding sudden obstacles, start and stop, and weaving obstacles.

Level 3

Ride the real world, Ride Durham!

In this class we will ride a route in the real world! You will have the opportunity to apply everything you have learned in the previous 2 classes, in the streets of Durham.
