This report examines community-led quick-build (or tactical urbanism) programs as an effective, low-cost strategy for improving street safety, advancing Vision Zero goals, and fostering community ownership of public space. The report emphasizes that the most impactful quick-build efforts combine changes to street design with meaningful community leadership. By allowing residents to shape and experience new street configurations firsthand, quick-builds shift driver behavior, increase public trust, and build momentum for permanent improvements.
