REGISTER. The public budget hearing on March 17th is a critical opportunity to show Durham’s leaders that we need fare-free transit to remain permanent. Federal relief funds that made fare-free transit possible are running out, and without action, riders could once again be forced to pay out-of-pocket just to access work, school, and healthcare.
✅ Why This Matters:
Since 2020, GoDurham buses have been fare-free, saving riders over $700 a year.
Public transit connects our community – Fare-free buses allow people to visit loved ones, access local businesses, and participate in civic life without financial barriers.
Without long-term city investment, this progress is at risk.
The city needs to hear directly from transit riders, workers, students, and advocates about how fare-free transit impacts their daily lives.
✅ How You Can Participate:
Sign up to speak at the budget hearing – Share your story on why fare-free transit is important.
Attend to show support – Even if you don’t speak, your presence sends a strong message.
Help spread the word – Encourage others to sign up and advocate for transit funding.
