Durham has made historic progress advancing fare-free transit. But fare-free alone is not transit justice.
Transit is workforce access.
Transit is housing stability.
Transit is youth opportunity.
Transit is disability rights.
Transit is economic mobility.
And the communities most impacted by transit decisions still lack a structured, recognized rider voice in shaping the system.
This has to change.
Join community organizations, advocates, and leaders for a working lunch summit to connect the dots across sectors and build collective power around transit equity.
Together, we will:
• Examine current funding and ridership realities
• Map how transit intersects with the communities we represent
• Identify shared priorities across organizations
• Begin building toward a rider-led body that can be recognized by the City
This is not a passive event.
It is a strategy session.
If we want bold transit decisions, we need aligned community voice.
The session will be at ReCity, 112 Broadway St. Lunch will be provided.
We ask that you register using this link.
Attendance is capped at 40 to ensure focused, productive discussion.
