August 2025 Community Meeting

  • Crank Arm Brewing 620 Fernway Ave Durham, NC, 27701 United States (map)

Topic: Quick-build community traffic calming projects! Quick-build projects improve bicycle, pedestrian or traffic safety infrastructure using low-cost materials that can be installed quickly - think crosswalk murals, planters, etc. Our summer intern, Dominique Barrett, has been developing a report for the City on this and working on implementing a quick-build project in Old West Durham, slated for spring of 2026, and will be sharing about her work. We'll be hosting the meeting at Crank Arm and invite the local neighborhood running and cycling groups to join us and participate in our interactive running route infrastructure mini-audit! REGISTER HERE.

Our pre-meeting bike ride (<8 miles) will depart at 6pm from Crank Arm and will end in time for the community meeting at 7pm. You can also join Crank Arm's weekly run club, departing at 6:30 (2/3/5 mile options). Please sign the yearly bike ride waiver if you haven’t! [Link]

It’s the perfect time to introduce Bike Durham to friends who share your vision—invite them to register and join you as we work to make Durham’s streets safer and more connected. Our monthly Bike Durham community meeting is an opportunity to hear updates, announcements and spend time focused on a particular topic. Guest speakers, presentations, and group work are the ways we make the most of our time together.  Join us every month to stay tapped into the local cycling and transit community!
